A reported 30,000 Libyans marched through Benghazi yesterday in an unprecedented effort to demand an end to violence, terrorism and extremist militias. Demonstrators condemned the deadly incident that occurred at the American consulate and paid their respects to Christopher Stevens and the three other Americans killed in the siege. The efforts of these 30,000 Libyans trumps in numbers the violent protests on Sept. 11 by Ansar al-Shariah against the US Consulate – where is the heavy news coverage for this? Where are the countless images of peaceful marches in Benghazi?
While there is coverage on this, the level of importance internationally seems minimal. Within hours top international news stations displayed images of burning vehicles and chaos in Libya and Cairo. Now, where are the images that expresses that this violence and chaos is purported by a small faction? Where are the images that express the larger opinion?
So much rage.
